An unmissable element of a visit to the basilica, the literal highlight, is the enjoyment of the unique view from the round balcony of the dome. Getting up to the dome is already very adventurous, going up the narrow spiral stairs, enjoying a fantastic view even on the way, we get to the viewing terrace that runs around the waist of the dome. There is no elevator, we have to climb more than 400 steps, but the panorama more than compensates for the effort.
